Support and funding of up to £10,000 is offered for one Community Engagement Pioneer Project to be developed and run as part of the Adaptation Scotland programme between September 2017 – March 2018.
This opportunity is open to all organisations and community groups based in Scotland. This includes public, private and third sector organisations and community groups based around particular locations and/ or interests.
Climate change is already beginning to affect communities across Scotland. Summers are becoming hotter and drier, winters are becoming wetter and milder, and our growing season is getting longer. By working together, we can help communities take account of these changes and ensure the places where we all live, work and play are climate ready. Pioneer projects provide a unique space for this collaboration, enabling partners to develop a shared understanding of adaptation challenges and opportunities, and develop tools, resources and actions to address these.
Our existing Pioneer Projects have helped young people learn about how climate change may impact the places they live, supported communities to identify local challenges, and brought arts and climate change together to explore new ways of talking about the changes we may see. You can read more about these past/ongoing Pioneer Projects below:
- Young People and Climate Ready Places – we have worked in partnership with Pas to include adaptation as part of charrette projects and engagement with young people. Lesson plans and teaching resources produced as part of this project are available here.
- Aberdeen Arts Project – we are working in partnership with Creative Carbon Scotland and Aberdeen City Council to use creative arts to engage people in shaping Aberdeen’s city wide adaptation strategy, find out more about this project here.
- Are We Ready? Project – we worked in partnership with the Scottish Communities Climate Action Network (SCCAN) to update the existing Are You Ready? film and facilitator resources and supported training to for SCCAN members to use the resources, view the project resources here.
