Aberdeen Adapts – an adaptation strategy for Aberdeen

Project On-going
Date added: 01/07/2016

The views of young people, businesses and organisations will all help to shape an inspiring adaptation strategy for Aberdeen.

The Aberdeen Adapts project was developed by Aberdeen City Council and the University of Aberdeen and selected to receive support from the Adaptation Scotland programme following a competitive application process.

The project will increase awareness of adaptation challenges and opportunities facing Aberdeen, lead to a city wide adaptation strategy and, long term leadership and governance.

You can read about the latest progress in the project in the Aberdeen Adapts newsletter.

New and innovative ways of communicating and engaging on adaptation are being developed through the project, including:

  • using interactive touch table technology to map and describe climate impacts;
  • workshops in schools
  • linking adaptation with engagement on flood risk management and wider land use planning;
  • community and business sector engagement

Adaptation Scotland will share resources and lessons learned from communicating and engaging with different groups.

Organisations, businesses and communities based in Aberdeen can get involved with the Aberdeen Adapts project. Contact us to have your details added to the project mailing list.
